Put a dot on it!

Stop plugging things in the wrong way, or at least trying too!  

A dab of paint was used in the above picture but nail polish is a good substitute.  Make sure to put enough on to raise the surface and you will be able to feel which side to plug in ,when you cant see. A grain of salt or sand will help to highlight this. Hot glue works well too. It only takes a few seconds to do this, and it can save time and your equipment.
