Easy Shredded BBQ Chicken

Easy Shredded BBQ Chicken

This is so easy and you can modify it to suit your taste.

You just need 3 things to get started. A crockpot, chicken breasts and some bbq sauce.

Many people have the fear of touching raw meat, it’s actually a phobia called carnophobia. This method of cooking helps to avoid that problem by using frozen chicken breasts but you can use fresh of you would like. Just be sure to cut the cook time in about half.

Just drop in a couple of chicken breasts.

Cover with some bbq sauce.

Set and forget, well not really. I have a high and low on my crockpot, many don’t. Set it on high and set a timer to check back on it in 2 hours. Figure one hour if your chicken is thawed.

2 hours later and were looking good.

The proper internal temp for chicken is 165 Fahrenheit or 74 Celsius if you want to check it with a probe, but since were going to shred it, you will be able to see if it is undercooked. Using a couple of forks, pull a piece out and start pulling it apart.

If its pink inside you will need to put it back into the crockpot for another 20-30 minutes, but if not, then continue shredding.

With the chicken back into the crockpot give it a good stir to let it soak up all of the BBQ juices in the bottom. If you would like to add more BBQ sauce or any spices now is a good time. Cilantro goes quite well with the BBQ.

Once stirred I let it cook for another 30 minutes setting the crockpot to low. If you don’t have a low setting figure 15 minutes more, just to give it some time to soak up those juices.

Time to enjoy, make yourself a bbq sandwhich or some chicken tacos.  You can make teriyaki chicken by just changing up the sauce.
